What are the prerequisites for this exam?

PMI has the following prerequisites for ACP exam:

  • Secondary degree
  • 21 contact hours of training in agile practices
  • 12 months of general project experience within the last 5 years. A current PMP® or PgMP® will satisfy this requirement but is not required to apply for the PMI-ACP and
  • 8 months of agile project experience within the last 3 years
What is the exam registration fee?
  • For PMI members: USD 435
  • For non-PMI members: USD 495
Where do I take the exam? Prometric, Pearson VUE
What is the format of the exam? Multiple choice questions
How many questions are asked in the exam? The exam contains 120 questions.
What is the duration of the exam? 180 minutes
What is the passing score? A pass/fail result score is generated based on your overall performance of the examination.
What is the exam's retake policy?

In the event that you fail your first attempt at passing the ACP examination, PMI's retake policy is:

  • Candidates are granted a one-year eligibility period in which they have to pass the examination.
  • During the eligibility period, candidates are allowed to give upto three attempts for the examination.
  • If a candidate fails the examination three times within one year, they must wait for one year from the date of their last examination to re-apply for the certification.
  • PMI members will have to pay the re-examination fees of USD 335 and Non-PMI members will have to pay USD 435 for their second and third attempt to pass the examination.
What is the validity of the certification? To maintain your PMI-ACP, you must earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in agile topics every three years.
